Lucas and Grandpa

Grandpa is Lucas' favorite person these days.  So Grandpa took Lucas on an excursion to Cabellas......
First stop--look at the fish
and sometimes to check in to make sure Grandpa is near....

Next- play with the duck decoys.......

Then run away from Grandpa

And on the way out the door - take time to pet the antelope.......

Josie and Lucas on the move

I was able to get to Denver for a mid-summer visit with Lisa and Betty and their darling children Josie and Lucas.  I had a wonderful time- even if it was only for 24 hours.
Two years plus 7 months old Josie showed off her tree climbing skills for me...(and the pictures turned out so darn cute I couldn't resist uploading them all.)

In the meantime, 7 month old Lucas is working on crawling - his method is to 'stand up' on both feet and then he flops forward.  Again too many cute photos --so I had to share them all.....

A morning at Grandma's Preschool

Once or twice a week Lilly and Josie come play at Grandma and Grandpa's house so their moms can get some work done.  Here are some typical pictures....

Come in the door and drop shoes and sweaters right on the floor
Then it is right down stairs to the playroom-- collecting todays treasures into baskets....
For some reason, all the treasures needed to be toted upstairs to grandma's bedroom..
It took teamwork to get the basket up the stairs...
Ah, now the reason is clear-- they needed to raid grandma's closet for shoes...
With shoes on they took the basket back down to the play room......
But for some reason they prefer to hang out where Grandma is so they moved their play to the livingroom.  The overturned foot rest makes a great boat.....with room for shoes and purses
Some negotiating was needed to share the shoes and purses.  Josie was the drama queen today- but that role can go either way.....

In fact, today it became apparent that having only one pair of high heels for them to clop around in was a problem.  So Grandma and Grandpa took them to the thrift store and they each picked a pair of "clop-clop" shoes that will stay at Grandma's.  Here is Josie modeling her new shoes....
Just before they go home they get a snack- today it was strawberries

For the record, both Grandma and Grandpa took naps this afternoon.

Grand kid pics for grandma

Grandma needed some pictures of the grands to see when she is traveling for work.,,,,,,,,,,,,

Back in January Grandma made matching dresses for the girls.  Turns out that getting a picture of them both wearing their dresses wasn't as easy.  Here is Lilly

 and here is Josie

and more typical, some version of dress-up for both

Another winter walk

On yet another balmy Denver afternoon, Kurt, I, Betty and Josie took a walk up the Waterton Canyon trail.  This trail was once an active roadway and now is open to pedestrians and lots of bicycles.  It was perfect for Betty since she could bring the stroller- if needed- for Josie

But Josie was off and running from the beginning....

and again started peeling off extra clothing...

 What a cutie!

We walked over a mile with Betty and Josie- then they turned around to go home for nap time.

Kurt and I kept walking for another mile.  The road follows a creek that is part of the Denver municiple water system.  We worked up a sweat walking in the bright sun

This poor little duck was hanging out by the open water, all by himself.

The rock formations along the canyon are interesting

We hiked a little further than this spot, found a place in the sun to eat a picnic lunch and then we headed home.
