CAMPING! IN JANUARY! IN DENVER! REALLY!

One weekend in January, when the weather was going to be in the mid 60's here in Denver, we moved our camper to Chatfield State Park (a 20 minute drive) and settled in for the weekend.......
Here is our north view---lovely Denver blue sky......
And our south view- more of the same
Later in the day we had visits from the rest of the family- Amy and I are enjoying the sun (and the warmth of the campfire).

Mark spent a good while riding his bike around the campground trails

And the rest of the time playing in the camper.....
Later Josie and Betty came to visit and Josie had her first s'more......
 She LIKED it!!

As night fell- it did get chilly.  But we persevered, huddled closer to the campfire, and cooked hotdogs and more s'mores.
Then the kids all went home to sleep in their warm houses.  Kurt and I were toasty in the camper- thanks to the two sleeping bags, down comforter and camper furnace.  :)

Winter Walk

January was relatively balmy in Denver this year.  One Sunday we took a family walk at the Cherry Creek Park.
Tim and Mark were nearby riding bikes.
Here are Kurt, Joanie, Lisa (with baby Lucas snuggled in a wrap), Betty and Lilly and Josie enjoying the winter solitude........

Here is what the best dressed wear for a winter walk-- sunglasses especially important in the bright Denver sun...
Lilly and Josie started off with lots of energy and quickly handed off their glasses and eventually their coats to the nearest adult.
Here they are on the run again...
and still running

I got them to stand still briefly for a family pic.....

We had the park to ourselves---except for a small herd of deer...
Josie is starting to run out of energy but having Betty nearby made it okay.
Lilly dancing to her own drummer for awhile.......
